THE COMPARATIVE STUDY...
The Comparative Study, as one of the three exam components for the IB Art Visual course, is and exploration and critical investigations of multiple artworks hailing from differing cultural context to address a focused research question. For my own project I researched 3 separate artists: Giorgione, Ingres, and Manet, and 3 of their respective works that depict the classic imagery of a nude female lounging. My explored how the intention of each of these artist's works influenced their intended audiences response, in order to challenge their blatant eroticism of the popular imagery of the female nude in classical art.
